Advancing respiratory care through education, Medik-Link demonstrated the Lifotronic HFCWO system at MTS 2025 during a hands-on session on airway clearance therapy.

We were pleased to be invited to support the Malaysian Thoracic Society Annual Congress 2025 (MTS 2025) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

The workshop highlighted practical approaches to managing respiratory conditions and therapy.

Engaging Multidisciplinary Respiratory Care Providers

The workshop drew active participation from a wide range of specialists, including:

  • Respiratory physicians (adult and paediatric)
  • Internal medicine specialists
  • Intensivists
  • Rehabilitation physicians

This turnout reflects the growing clinical interest in non-invasive airway clearance systems across Malaysia’s multidisciplinary respiratory care teams.

Airway Clearance Equipment Demonstration: Lifotronic PV-100 HFCWO System

Our team demonstrated the Lifotronic PV-100 High-Frequency Chest Wall Oscillation (HFCWO) system, a non-invasive therapy system used to:

  • Mobilise mucus in patients with secretion retention
  • Support patients who have an impaired cough reflex
  • Reduce physical strain in daily respiratory management

During the session, clinicians had the opportunity to:

  • Experience the HFCWO vest in action
  • Understand how the system mobilises secretions using adjustable frequencies and pressures
  • Learn how the system integrates into ICU, ward, or rehabilitation routines with ease

Why Airway Clearance Therapy Matters

Airway clearance therapy plays a vital role in managing patients with:

  • Chronic respiratory conditions
  • Neuromuscular disorders
  • Post-operative pulmonary complications
  • Reduced ability to expectorate mucus naturally

For these patients, HFCWO therapy may help:

  • Mobilise secretions from deeper airways
  • Reduce the risk of respiratory infections
  • Minimise reliance on manual chest physiotherapy (CPT) and traditional percussion techniques
  • Provide passive treatment where the patient can sit, rest, or lie down
  • Adapt to different needs with adjustable frequency and pressure settings

The Lifotronic PV-100 system is suitable even for young children from 3 months old, making it a versatile solution for both children and adults.
