First hospital in Malaysia To Go-Live with Philips Automated Early Warning Score (EWS) System – Columbia Asia Hospital Miri

Congratulations to Columbia Asia Hospital Miri!

Being the first hospital in Malaysia to implement & go-live with the Philips Automated Early Warning Score (EWS) System on 5th April 2018 at their general wards, the hospital is providing a new leap of care & surveillance to their patients; Early Detection & Early Intervention.

Early warning scoring (EWS) is a physiologic scoring system for bedside patient assessment. Early detection of changes in a patient’s vital signs is a matter of life or death. With this system, rapid response teams can be quickly notified of clinical instability. This leads to early intervention, thereby helping to prevent critical events before they happen.

Philips IntelliVue MP5SC Monitor automatically calculate the EWS score from the vital signs acquired. Action protocol appeared at the message pane (Yellow wordings).

The data from monitor flow seamlessly via Wireless LAN to the IGS Server for recording. Doctors and nurses able to observe the patient’s health condition based on the previous recordings to determine for better or worse. Planning for patient transfer to HDU or ICU can be done at this point.

It was a great milestone for both Columbia Asia Hospital Miri as well as our affiliated company, MedicWorld. We look forward in working together with our principle brands in providing innovative technology and healthcare solutions to healthcare providers in Malaysia.
